While over 150 prospects scattered Mountaineer Field on Saturday, seven competitors stood out amongst the rest.
The Mountaineers 2013 recruiting class has nine commits, but seven showed off their talents and met their future teammates for the first time.
Monessen (Pa.) QB Chavas Rawlins made his way to Morgantown again on Saturday, in effort to showcase the mechanics he's been working on. The athletic signal caller is quick inside the pocket, often displaying excellent escapability. Rawlins has a big arm, and proved to be much more consistent.
Zaire Williams (Sicklerville, NJ) proved exactly why the Mountaineers jumped into the sweepstakes for his services a few short months ago. He already displays an muscular build, but also has the quickness to compliment.
Huntington (WV) FB Elijah Wellman is one physical specimen. His toughness, and surpsing ball handling ability, will likely lend to Wellman being in impact player early in his Mountaineer career.
RB DeShawn Coleman (Hermitage, Pa.) showed a great burt once the ball was in his hands. A complete back, Coleman also excels catching the football. With the combo of Coleman and Williams, the Mountaineers have really done well recruiting at the running back position in 2013.
Dayton (OH) linebacker Darrien Howard is a man among boys. Not only is he physically impressive, he runs well for his size. At one point in the day, Howard ran with the wide receivers ...and held his own.
Bloomfield (NJ) offensive tackle Marcell Lazard showed just because you're big, doesn't mean you can't be athletic. Lazard was quick off the ball and was impressive with his footwork. He appears to be the type of quality tackle to anchor the line for years to come.
McKeesport (Pa.) linebacker Hodari Christian isn't an physically dominant as Howard, but he's every bit as athletic. Long and lean, Howard showed excellent range and close-out speed at various times during the drills.
Klein (TX) offensive lineman Tyler Tezeno is also scheduled to visit this weekend. However, flying from Texas to Pittsburgh kept him from working out Saturday morning. He arrived that afternoon and will continue his visit on Sunday.
