wvufballIn the fast paced every day changing life of college football recruiting, schools from all over the nation are always looking for the next big thing. That player who can come in, contribute, and challenge for early playing time.

The story of Monessen quarterback Chavas Rawlins is a different story. The rising senior has seen his recruitment skyrocket.

West Virginia is known for going out and finding the diamond in the rough, the recruit that might not be recruited by every major college in the nation, but comes in and earns playing time. Many think that is what WVU has found in Rawlins.

Rawlins is a dual-threat quarterback and one of the best athletes in Pennsylvania.

Having thrown for almost 1,000 yards, rushing for almost 600 yards, and scoring a combined 15 touchdowns during his junior season, Rawlins is quickly popping onto the radars of top programs around the nation. Not only does he possess great athleticism, but also shows that he isn’t afraid of contact.

One important aspect of Rawlins recruitment is his brother. He wants to find the perfect fit and situation so they can play together in college. Rawlins admits his brother is the key right now. Luckily for WVU, both are very high on the University City.

Each of the schools after Rawlins are recruiting him to play quartberback. South Florida, Ohio State, and Penn State are recruiting him as an athlete.

The game between West Virginia and Pittsburgh has long been nicknamed The Backyard Brawl, and it appears the brawl has continued on the recruiting ground for Rawlins. It sounds like WVU is ahead of Pitt.

"Honestly, I would say West Virginia was a little better than Pitt, just as a practice. I would say I liked the intensity and the fast pace and more organized stations. That caught my eye a little more at West Virginia."

Rawlins currently holds 15 offers, and is rated a three star by Rivals.com.

Pittsburgh, Tennessee, South Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia have offered to name a few. Ohio State and Penn State could offer at any time.

He is expected to make his decision next month.
