The West Virginia coaching staff has reeled in their third commitment for the 2013 class, and they didn't have to look too far to find him. On Friday, McKeesport, PA product, Hodari Christian, pledged his services to the Mountaineers.
Christian, a 6-foot, 210 pound linebacker is rated a 3-star by both Rivals.com and Scout.com .Scout also ranks him the 40th best outside linebacker in the country.
Known for his speed and athleticism, Christian was targeted by the coaching staff as a perfect fit in the new 3-4 defensive scheme. After a visit to Junior day in February, he had an opportunity to speak with the staff about his role in the defense. It's believed he'll be targeted as the linebacker, hybrid defender to roam the entire field.
In addition to the offer from West Virginia, Christian also claimed offers from Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue.
The Mountaineers were the first offer to Christian, and his comfort level with the university and Morgantown played a huge factor in his commitment.
"I was comfortable there" Christian told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. "I thought, 'This is the school for me.' Why wait?" Christian said.
