football_thumbnailThe month of June is always a month when kids take visits and attend camps looking to find a home for the next 4 years. WVU is no different with a large contingent of talent coming to Morgantown to see if it's the right fit. One of those prospects is cornerback Damian Nicholson.

Nicholson, who goes by the nickname "Honey Badger" will visit the University City on June 23rd.

WVU has always been Nicholson's dream school, but it's his relationship with the staff that stands out for Damian.

"The automatic connection with Coach Roberts." he said. "They have the ability to win, a nice campus, and good academics. One plus is it's not that far away from home."

When you hear the name "Honey Badger", you immediately think of LSU star Tyrann Mathieu.

Nicholson doesn't shy away from it, and in fact, embraces it.

"That is a lot to live up to, but I believe I have the ability to do it as long as I believe in myself." he said.

imagesCAXR0KI0"Actually the last couple camps I've attended that's what everyone has been calling me. They say I perform like him and I'm always around the ball." he said "I have the fire and desire to do great things. It's just confidence, I do see myself as the next badger... Hopefully be better."

Nicholson believes in himself. He isn't a cocky kid, but confident in his abilities and what he can do on the football field.

"I'm a playmaker and I make things happen. I produce in clutch situations, and I'm smart on the field. I will always work harder than the next guy no matter what." he said

The 5'11", 175 pound corner currently has offers from WVU and East Carolina.

Could a decision come soon?

"My decision could be tomorrow, next week, or February. At this point I'm just soaking it in and enjoying the recruiting process. I'm truly blessed." he said.

The month of June could be very good to the Mountaineers. Stay tuned.
