Today is the day fans of the Gold and Blue have been waiting for since January, the opening of camp. The Mountaineers reported on Wednesday to get gear and camp schedules. WVU will have position meetings and lifts most of the day, then take the field late in the afternoon for it's first practice of the 2012 season.
WVU enters the 2012 season with high expectations following the 70-33 victory over Clemson in the Discover Orange Bowl back in January. Not to mention they have a new home in the Big 12 Conference where they are picked to finished 2nd behind Oklahoma.
Geno Smith was picked Big 12 preseason Player of the Year.
WVU welcomes in new defensive coaches, and a new 3-4 scheme. Shannon Dawson will take over as Offensive Coordinator, and Daron Roberts will coach the cornerbacks.
Will Dustin Garrison and Terence Garvin bounce back from injuries? What freshmen will step up to earn playing time? Will there be any new arrivals at camp? All these questions and many more will be answered in the coming weeks.
The media will once again have limited access. Coach Holgorsen has allow the media to attend on August 2,6,9,13 and 16 for 30 minutes each session.
Coach Holgorsen will once again address the media on those days, with a start time of 7:30.
Football is back folks, and it's time to bring on the Mountaineers.
