Mountaineer Nation is filled with excitement today with the start of fall practice. With current Mountaineers working to prepare for the 2012 season, we wanted to take a quick look at possible future Mountaineers in a quick hits segment.
Here are a few guys to watch over the next several weeks.
McArthur High School (FL) 3-star linebacker Jeremy Benjamin, 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds has three schools he's looking to visit in the future. WVU, FIU, and Wake Forrest are all in the mix.
He may also visit Tennesse and Kentucky.
Benjamin will take visits to all three schools before making a decision. He has offers from Texas A&M, Purdue, and Minnesota to name a few.
Delray Beach (FL) American Heritage School athlete Marcus Davis has cut his list to three with WVU making the cut.
Davis, 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds is rated a 3-star by Rivals.
He is looking at WVU, Wake Forrest, and Vandy. Having already made the trip to Wake, he plans on visiting the final two before making a decision.
He has offers from Mississippi State, Boise State, Cincinnati, and Purdue to name a few.
WVU fans are still asking about Bayside High School (Va) running back Taquan Mizzell. Smoke has switched his list around over the last few weeks, but the main competition has always been Virginia.
Mizzell hasn't visited WVU yet, and without a visit, a WVU commitment is a long shot.
Closing out our quick hits is Eastern Christian Academy (Md) running back Wendell Smallwood.
Smallwood, 5-foot-11 and 194 pounds is the teammate of recent WVU verbal commit Daikiel Shorts. Smallwood is rated a 3-star by Rivals.com and visited with his teammate last weekend.
He has offers from Auburn, Rutgers, and UCONN to name a few. This is one to keep an eye on.
